I have been waffling back and forth over getting into the black powder game for years now. No hunting season advantage in BC and the clean up during/after shooting seems to be what has held me at bay, but now that I'm getting older, I accept it as part of the BP ritual. We are lucky to have a home on both sides of the line now, so I have a season advantage now to boot, that is sealing the deal.
I'm in negations with TVM on a Flintlock Tennessee rifle build, we have everything settled but the lock. Stock for them is a Siler but - L&R offers a couple of locks that they advertise as having waterproof pans. The locks are their Late English and Manton locks, and Chambers Round Face English lock is advertised as having a waterproof pan. The excerpt is from their email, what would you choose? The logical part of me still says get a CVA inline and be done instead of waiting 7 months for a build but if I'm going into this, it may as well be the way I envisioned as a kid roaming the Okanagan hills......
Pretty excited, aged steel hardware, deluxe maple stock, swamped barrel in .54, the realization that all the accoutrements, while fun to acquire are a substantial chunk of change - just this one last detail on the lock as I don't want to do this again in 2021 anyways lol.........
