I bought the longer lock pin for US stocks, and I can't seem to get the original lock pin out. Any tips or tricks you guys have for getting them out?

I don't mess around with trying to pull the retaining pin that sticks out the bottom.
I simply use an appropriate punch and drive the connector pin out, which shears the retaining pin. Very easy to do, just drive it from the left side, out the right.

You will need to reduce the diameter of the US pin by chucking up the pin in a drill or lathe. A hand drill will do, chuck 1/8th of one end.
Use 80 grit sandpaper on a hard object like a file and work the pin evenly as you spin it. Finish the job with a stone or emory cloth to polish. Reblue with cold blue and install.

It wasn't that easy for me.

Had to remove the lock pin with a dremel and grind it down until the lock could slide out ( the pin would not budge)

Then took the new lock, placed it in the drill chuck, grabbed a file and went at it until it fit nice and smooth.

New lock pin just hammered in. Took 15 minutes.

Little tip...
Order the M1A one from brownells it's diameter and composition make it much easier and faster to turn down to "norincoo' size. The USGI M14 ones are the larger diameter of the three by my comparisons and are harder, making it more work to turn to diameter. Brownells sells the M1A pin and retaining pin.

Just out of curiosity, which type of punch should I ask for at Crappy Tire? A pin punch I'm assuming?
