I've been waiting for a while now for them to release the rifle that's pictured on their website for the "new parts" section.

Looks like it has forward assist, built in brass deflector and dust cover.

I hope they are actually going to release this gen2 raven.

I think that it has been mentioned before that the forward assist upper is only going to be available as an upgrade part and not as a complete rifle. That is if it ever comes to light.

Currently we are sitting at 7 months since the GEN 3 upper was promised to be delivered last year…. They can’t even get rifles out the door without QC defects (magwells that aren’t milled out LOL) so I don’t expect the new uppers to be coming out anytime soon

I was told they were behind because they were setting up a new machine… that was a couple of months ago

Is a forward assist even that desirable? I have multiple AR15's and about 100K rounds with an AR15 and never really had a situation were the FA really helped. IF a round isn't going into the chamber I don't want to force it deeper in, I want to get it out and get another good round in.

But I've never been in combat so maybe it's a benefit in those types of situations?

Better to have it and not need it, right?
I’ve had a few times where my gun failed to completely lock up.
But most importantly, I like how it looks.

There are certain conditions where the buffer spring won't have enough oomf to strip the top rounds off a magazine or return fully to battery even though there are no chamber obstructions. I'm sure old Gene Stoner would say "the soldier should never let the rifle get to that point" but sometimes it does, and it sure is nice to have a device that gets the rifle working again regardless.

Everytime i checked the chamber on my Colt to make sure it was loaded, id give the FA a bop with the palm to push the bolt back into battery, it often needed it. I personally wouldnt ever buy a gun without the ability to manually manipulate the bolt backwards and forwards.

Oh, I get the idea. It's just AR's are one of the few guns that have a FA

And Gene put a FA on the BCG anyway, that cutout you could jam your thumb in.

I'm not against a FA on a rifle but they never did a great job for me and basically I wouldn't pay extra to have one.

Anything with a reciprocating bolt handle has forward assist...

Gene never tried to use the scallop. I have, it didn't work, so I was glad the FA was there.

What were the circumstances? IIRC Kyle Rittenhouse used the FA when he was in a world of trouble so I can see it's merit at times. It's just most of the time I've used FA assist it just made the jam worse. But like I said- I've never been in combat.
