Lockhart Tactical Raven - Does anyone actually have one or is it just social media po

Good friend of mine took his out a few times and was having extraction issues. Ruled out being anything related to magazines as he also used factory glock mags with the same problem. Spoke to Lockhart about said issue and was told that if he sent it back it would be “a while” before they would get around to taking a look at it as they were “busy”. They said it might be a tolerance or ammo issue and that he should try heavier loads to break it in. No luck in that department so they then told him to polish up the bolt to see if that would solve the issue. His response was “why not warranty the brand new rifle I just bought off you guys”?

Hopefully the issues your friend is having can be sorted out sooner rather than later!

I understand the company is probably busy pumping out the rifles right now, but in any case, they should be able to address warranty issues in a timely manner.

Which grain of ammo did your use? Was it aluminum case? I know aluminum isn’t recommended for the FX-9, so Im wondering if that could be it? Has he tried mags other than factory glock mags?

It’s not great that this is happening to a brand new rifle

Based on my experience with Lockhart, I wish your friend good luck in having his problem resolved. IMO Lockhart sucks a55... I'll never deal with them again.

i have wanted a PCC for some time. at one point i was going to buy a FX9 but, at the time they wheren’t available. now we have two canadian alternatives and i would like to support a canadian manufacturer. Kodiak K9 or Raven 9… can’t seem to decide…

There are multiple horror stories on this site regarding Lockhart. As much as the WK180c was a low quality piece of garbage, Kodiak's customer service was pretty good. If I could only pick between those 2 PCCs, and had no hope of any other option being available, I'd pick the K9 over the Raven every single time. Maybe the Raven is a better gun, I'll never know, but if something needs warranty I'd have vastly more faith in Kodiak stepping up than Lockhart

i agree about kodiak. i have a 180 and the couple issues i had they took care of right away… also read all about lochhart tactical! but, i’m also reading issues with the k9…

I live near kodiak's facility and they've been really good to me, I have one of the first K9's that came off the assembly line and I've had no issues with it, I did a rough break in procedure of 500rounds and I haven't had a single failure using SGM and OEM Glock mags.

I have to say, I haven’t heard any negative press about Kodiak’s customer service. The way a company deals with it’s customers is everything to me and really does determine whether or not I invest in a product. It’s a shame the same can’t be said about Lockhart and I will never give them my money under any circumstances because of the experiences I’ve had with them. I don’t know how you can run a successful business on petty tactics when you get called out for not delivering on a product while still holding people’s money hostage.

With everything Ive read about Lockhart over the years im surprised to hear this gun actually exists

This. They are a notorious drop shipper with a poor customer service track record.
The only way I would buy one is if it was in person with no expectations of warranty.
It DOES look pretty slick tho...

I'd go for a base model Ruger and a magpul backpacker stock, if you don't absolutely need the AR look.

To be fair it has nothing to do with the look and everything to do with AR compatibility and ergonomics.

The Raven takes AR buffer tubes & systems, AR triggers, barrels, grips, handguards. I get that most people aren't tinkering with or even properly tuning their guns and will never take them to competition, but for those of us that do this platform really is as good as an AR9. You could build a killer PCC out of their receiver set and compete with the likes of the JP GMR15 and DaVinci down south. It's really the only platform you can say that about here. And from personal experience it is VERY well made.

Aside from the appeal of the .556 version, most would probably be better served putting their money into a more proven platform with a company that will stand behind their product. I’m glad I didn’t follow through with the purchase and opted to put my money elsewhere. Most would be better served with a Vector or an FX9 which Lockhart initially stated were “garbage” in their sales pitch to me.

I get the company has a bad reputation but so far Samuel has been very easy to deal with and has stood behind this gun. I had a firing pin snap at 1000 rounds and new ones were in the mail the next day. I should note the gun was still running fine without an intact firing pin.

As an owner of both the FX-9 and Raven, it’s not even close. The Raven is a much higher quality gun.

Good to hear.
Is the firing pin propitiatory or typical AR, as you mentioned previously?

Bats just did an unboxing and breakdown of the rifle:

Coulee Outdoors also posted a first shots video and had problems feeding, although it seemed like he used aluminum cased ammo:

The Lockhart site now shows options to purchase multiple calibre types including .308, 5.56, 7.62x39, and 9mm. I’m still reserving judgement until we see more of these in the wild, especially the 5.56 variant.
