It seems the older it gets the longer it takes to cure; that is about the only difference I see. I have a small tube of 4 year old blue stuff at home, and a 8 or 9 year old bottle of red at work; they keep on giving, and working.
Yes it does have a "best before" date. I use it almost daily from a 50 ml bottle ( 1.69 oz. ) and the rear sticker gives a date. HOWEVER, I've used it 2 years past the "best" date without any problems, just SHAKE IT well. When it starts to "separate & gel" I wouldn't use it on industrial equipment.
I have some blue that has been through several freeze / thaw cycles and it still seems to work OK. I have taken things apart after using the stuff and it had every indication of doing its job properly.
I’ve had red and blue so long that the plastic container deteriorated and it still worked fine. Some more then twenty years, some closer to thirty five.
