Lok-tite necessary on rings??

I always Blue the base screws because once the scope is mounted I cannot check them again.

I never treat the ring screws. But if the scope is on a hard recoiling rifle, I might put a dab of Blue on the ring itself, so the scope does not slide forward.

Had a scope mounted on a rifle by a "so called" reputable gunsmith years ago, when I decided to replace the scope because I had to constantly re sight the rifle, turns out the front base was loose. Since then I have always mounted scopes myself and used "blue" loc title only. Torqued to manufacturer specs and have never ever had any more problems. A friend who is a millwright and machinist said the loctite won't affect the torque by the threads not being dry. Hope this helps.

I bought a Stainless Stalker in .280 20 years ago I loctited the scope rings.I tried to take them off some time ago and stripped the heads needless to say the scope is still on the gun and will be forever.
