Long Branch .22 rifle and case

According to the checklist, the following attachments would be stowed in the chest:
Brush Bristle .22 cleaning rod
Brush wire .22 cleaning rod
Jag, .22 cleaning rod
Loop. .22 cleaning rod.

Since there are only 3 holes, the 4th item would be stored on the cleaning rod.

Calum: Looks like you are missing one attachment.

Here's an "all matching" serial number .22 Long Branch that we're currently preparing an entry for the MKL (Milsurp Knowledge Library). It starts with a "0L"prefix. The transit case only has three holes as well and this piece also only has three (3) attachments.

I would suggest that over the years, the items of EIS got seperated from the main kit, and the rifles either sold incomplete, or with no EIS at all. I have bought enough surplus items that came with a deviation list, and Lord knows it was not often you would get issued a kit from supply without some deviation.

The same question as to contents came up on Jouster Enfield forum, and I gave the same list (except with the part numbers) onto there. Even Brian #### (of BDLtd) had only three items with his Cno7; he was missing the loop but had both the nylon and the brass brush, along with the jag.

There will still be a checklist for the 22 rifle in service. Maybe someone still serving could drag it out and see whats on it today. Plus, with the NSN's, a guy can look up for the manufacturers numbers to get the proper attachments.

As I sugested on the other forum, I believe that with the 4th item stowed on the rod, you would offer some protection to the threads on the end.

Great score on the rifle and case. :)

I have one of those cases, but sadly not the rifle that goes in it. :(

It's my truck gun case for my bubba longbranch. :p
