Long Branch Copy from Aus/Vietnam?

The gentleman who has many Ithaca parts in Southern Ontario(lots of people will know who that is) told me that in the early 70's there were like 550 people employed in firearms manufacturing in Canada. Trudeau put the kibosh on it with tariff changes etc., let's face it, the Liberal Party is anything but firearm friendly and probably didn't want them made here.
I guess there is Para Ordnance, and I think there's other firearm related manufacturing outfits in Canada...
How AIA has managed to navigate through the extreme anti-gun government bs in Australia boggles the mind...my hat's off to em. I like their product.

Cantom,

I take it if I (or anyone else) ever did manage to set up a company selling FN49's in look a like FN FAL stock set ups (It isnt a FAL variant after all and it is non-restricted ;) ) isnt the smartest thing to do then ?? :runaway:

Let's see 200 Gunnut Inverstors at $1,000.00 apiece, bingo ...
$200,000.00, (how many of your guns do you have to sell to raise $1,000.00) I am just being facitious but, two hundred thousand should not be much of a hurdle at the bank armed with a good business plan.

I could probably sell off my FN49 for that much (maybe alittle more) but then I wouldnt own ANY guns as its my only one.

PS. I'm thinking alittle higher then 200,000$ That might buy you a CNC mill and Lathe, or pay for the wages of 4 skilled machinists for a year. You'd still need Gundrills, medium sized presses for stamping out tons of parts, even BIGGER ones for hammer forging, plus general machining tools for the machinists to make things like jigs and fixtures etc as well. :p

The PH4 would fit without any alterations to the rifle, and without being too bulky. Trying to get some pictures posted.

actually, my rifle will not take the canadian, or brit micometer site. the wheel for the adjustment runs into the gun, and wont let it go all the way down. the wheel could be turned down smaller, or the gun put on a mill, and a lil more removed from the front of the recever where the site would sit.

Now that is a great piece of info Beater, thanks for that. So, my CMK3 Canadian rear sight might be the right way to go yet...no wheel on top eh?:dancingbanana:

Hey, was it hard getting that little pin out? Did it just tap up easily or bend and deform?

yes, i didnt try that because i didnt have one in the parts bin, but it should fit fine.
personally, i think im going to mill mine out a bit, or ellse make up a target site setup, same as the pics i posted.

the lil pin came out quiet easy. i use a nice small brass drift, then pull it the rest of the way, with plyers

Finally got a few photos posted. Don't know if the elevation screw would clear the bridge or not.

I just installed the Long Branch CMK3 sight on my rifle- it dropped in there like it was made for the rifle...if indeed they used a Long Branch rifle for a sample as I suspect, that is not a big surprise...it's probably the sight the sample rifle had on it! What a huge difference there is in the size of the battle peep sight...
The blued colour doesn't match the parkerized finish of everything else, but oh well on that...it's a lot more sight than that Mk II thing with the tiny holes I can barely see through. The little retaining pin came out very easily, almost too easily, I hope it doesn't get lost.

BTW Beater, the Enfield funnel does fit in even with the bolt in place.
