Hi, when my dad was 17, my grandfather got him a surplus Longbranch No.4 Mk1*. It was purchased from the Canadian Forces Store on the airbase where my grandad worked. It was still wrapped in the wax paper cocoon, but it was already sporterized (stock cut down, nothing else). My question is, did LB ever sporter surplus enfields for commercial sale after the war was over?

I googled EAL and found something, But my dad's is nothing like the ones I saw. His looks like a simple bubba job. everything is still intact, exept the stock of course.

CAL Sporter

"Canadian Defence Commodities 1967" in the CAL chapter shows a .303 No4Sporter among the CAL(Longbranch) products.

Pic from Green- Very interesting, 1967 eh? It's an EAL military! Note it's listed as CAL product, no mention of Essential Agencies Limited or St. Francis and sons.

It's called Sporter .303 in the list and has the 5 round mag characteristic of the military version. How I wish there were a few more pics of it...

The so called resistance BRENs. Good source told me they were made in the late 50s at Lb and flown out of Downsview.
