Typically things like this languish in someone's basement and are never seen by anyone. It's not easy to convince someone to let you take pictures, let alone put them up on the internet.
Since you've had Milsurps.com up, some really great photosets have been put up showing previously mythological rifles in great detail. Really good stuff.
The serial numbers on the bolt handle and buttsocket are original. I have pics of them and looked at them closely in person. The owner did not want them posted on the internet, thus my Microsoft Paint efforts to obscure them sadly

There is no filing, and I know very well what that looks like. The finish on the rifle is undisturbed at the s/n area. The s/n is a drawing number or contract number or similar. (no L in the normal Long Branch scheme of things) Receiver and bolt handle numbers match.
