The LB (which in this case just looks like the B) is below the safety lever hole. Below that, if it was scrubbed, the area would be somewhat flat. Yours looks OK but to be sure you need to take a high macro photo and blow it up. You should see the pebbling of the casting. any file or buffing marks will look different form the surrounding area. Usually the 50s receivers have the CA mark in that location, but as with many things Enfield, you never say always.

The 1950's c.No7s are consecutively serial numbered from the end of the 1946 contract. I have recently run across several years showing approx 500 -600 guns produced during the '50s.

In the late 90's I saw 8 or 9 of (formerly) 12 consecutively numbered 1953 (IIRC) which had gaps corresponding to the ones returned after they exhibited problems. The cadet unit was taught to dry fire them to prove them safe and the chambers were all peened to various degrees.
I explained to the unit officers why their rifles were being damaged and worked to convince them to change their drills...and volunteered to have their rifles fixed ( of course to no avail) as the military must know best...

Tragic levels of incompetance exibited by the military/cadet system.

I went thru the armoury of another cadet unit about 10 years ago - it was full of recently deactivated No4 and C.No7 rifles several of which were "5G" and "6G" "C oval" factory competition rifles from 1949 thru 1956...

Made me sad...
