That's a beauty. You can see someone had the run of the spare wood pile. Forend looks like birch and handguards are probably walnut, but there were no fluted handguards in birch AFAIK, so someone made a choice. Does the number show on the MP rifle list? Not all of them do of course.
 
There is a list of RCMP No.4 rifles sold by the Depot in Regina to Lever Arms (?). If yours is on the list, BINGO! you have a definate provenance. If it is not, you might have a genuine RCMP surplus rifle. However, I have seen mention of an unscurpulous individual with a set of stamps in his tool box and larceny in his heart.
 
I have a copy of "Arms and Accoutrements of the Mounted Police". It lists a page and a half of serial numbers of Long Branch Enfields used by the force. If you can post the first three or four digits of the s/n of your rifle I can post all the numbers in that group.
 
I think we can say pretty definitely that a 29L rifle would not have a stamped trigger guard originally, so you could ditch that and find a nice forged one to replace it.
