Long distance precision math

Being the nub shooter on this site, I figured that a long time ago. That or I'm just willfully ignorant ;)

Nope. You are not ignorant. Between the Mods and the members there is an astronomical wealth of knowledge on this forum. All mentioned are really good about helping folk that are willing to ask. And you asked.

We all had to learn the knowledge of shooting THEN aquire the skill of shooting.
The guys recommened a dope, range, or data book and some ballistic books and calcs. A Data Of Previous Engagements(dope) or Data Of Personal Equip. IMO is the most valuable reference.

Im a noob too then cause Im still learning.
Cheers

Yeah, I'd like to get a DOPE book to start working on this. Things like how many mils for what windage. How to get a range estimation through known dimensions using mil dots, etc, are all questionable for me right now.

my range book is a cheapass 4x6 rite in the rain pad I keep all my info in and dates. You can find range data cards to down load on line for free as well

What Jamie said. I use a RITR notebook as well. Over the yrs I have tried several commercial and books I put together. Some had stuff I didn't need. With your own notebook you put in what you need. The big thing is ensuring your data is recorded for future reference. Another thing to remember is all the data obtained through ballistic programs should be confirmed and in YOUR rifle as they are all different.
