I need a scope with long eye releif for a ruger no 1. I have no neck it seems. Thinking 3x9 range even though it is going on a varmint special. I had a 5x15 bushnelll on it but it turned out to be useless once winter clothes were on and I turned up the power. I would like to be able to keep it under $600 if at all possible.

Look at specs till you find a long range var with good relief, don't count out vintage weavers, you can set the scope back more towards the shooter.
In your case , recoil is not the factor , but tube distance for rings without going to offset or whatever their called. I did see a set of those a while back, would work for you.

I've rarely run over 9 power on gophers even out to 100++ yards. Just need to be able to see out of the damn thing in a prone position with all the winter clothes on. Five inches of eye releif would be about ideal i think. I looked into the offset bases but would rather take the extra money and sink it into a better scope.
