Long eye relief scope questions

Are Burris and Leopold the only Scout scopes around made for a rifle or is it ok to use a handgun scope????? Any body have a favorite that doesn't go over 300$$ --400$$ I bought a xs scout mount for my 30-30 lever and now i am looking for the right optics.

I had a Bushnell trophy a few years back I used on a 98k and I think it came in around $280 I believe. I think it was a 2-4X32 but I would have preferred a fixed 2.

i have a leupold 2x on my scout rifle. I looked at the burris variable, but found the leupold to be far superior.
