I do my own reloads for my Long Lee. The original rounds used in the Long Lee were loaded with around a 200 grain copper nickel jacketed bullet going about 2000 fps. I keep the load light and use a 200 grain hard lead alloy cast bullet and load with 16 grains of Alliant 2400 powder and get about 1550 fps. Even though this is slower than the original load in my gun it shoots to point of aim at 100 yards. My Long Lee is a restored MKI it still had the uncorrected sights and would shoot about 6 inches to the right at 100 yards. I was lucky enough to get the corrected rear sight ladder on Ebay and now I don't have to aim way off. I think the MKI* already had the corrected sights but most if not all of the Canadian purchased guns were MKI so this is something to look out for. The easy way to tell is if the front sight has a star punched into the ramp it was corrected.
My long lee is super accurate with handloaded ammo. More accurate then it should be.
I use Sierra pro hunter bullets and a starting charge of 4895 or varget (usually 36.5 to 38 grains iirc) . Loads are right around 2000 fps and like I said accuracy at 300 yards is VERY VERY good.
For cast I use a 185 grain lee bullet sized to .312" with 18 grains of 2400, or 13.5 grains of red dot. Same as above great accuracy.
