Long ejectors used to be all the rage, then they fell into disfavour due to the possibility of hitting the primer during an unload. I don't know if this ever happened, but the safety gurus killed the idea.
I have one in a Series '70 Gold Cup and it doesn't clear as readily as do my 1911's with standard ejectors. I keep an eye on it.
I think it may be one of the myths like the possibility of a Series '70 1911 going "Bang!" if dropped. In a recent magazine article on the 1911 myths, this was tested and proven wrong.
