Hi all!

I'm a reasonably new shooter (about a year in, off and on) based out of Edmonton. I've been shooting for about a year at the CHAS range, and I'm slowly taking on a few responsibilities for the club. So far it's mostly been the show, which we have some cool plans for (come check it out!).

I'm interested in pretty much everything firearms related! So far I've gathered a few milsurps (SKS, 91/30, K31, Lee Enfield sporter), a hunting rifle (Sako 75 Timberwolf in 7mm Rem Mag), and a bolt action .22 (JW-25A). I've got a few Garand receivers which I'm going to build into a .308 target rifle eventually, so I'm on the lookout for parts. Doing some long-distance shooting would be great, and I definitely want to get better with my hunting rifle (I'm currently terrible). I'd also like to get into some gunsmithing, involving building some stocks and machining some parts, but we'll see how it goes!

In my day-to-day, I'm an R&D Engineer/Postdoc working on MEMS (micro-electro-mechanical systems). In my free time, I do a lot of homebrewing (beer, mead, and fruit wines), and I'm into 3D printing, CNC machining/woodworking (and getting into traditional woodworking), and electronics (mostly embedded stuff).

That's probably TMI for an intro post on here, but that about sums it up for me!

Welcome to another edmonton shooter..Im a member out at Chas now for a year as well and much like you, am just getting into the sport..I too started with some milsurps and now have moved on to ARs and handguns..if you're ever looking for some company out at the range hit me up and maybe we can head out and seriously disfigure some paper targets..always looking to meet new people and learn new things

Cheers,
Mike

Thanks for the welcome Mike! I was just out at the range on Saturday with a couple friends. If you're into ARs, you should come to service rifle (sometimes we do service pistol too). It's a pretty fun competition for shooters of all skill levels. I think it's the second sunday of the month starting in March? Bring $5 and 40 rounds for a typical event.

I hope to see you around!
