Long Range .22lr

Haven't shot on the ground with it yet, I'd imagine about the same as with any perimeter brake on a rimfire would, although this one seems to have more holes than some of the others, thing that attracted me was it matches the barrel looks wise, and makes it just long enough to stand in my gun safe.

I also need to try it at the range yet to see if it changed the POI any.
 
I was out today shooting my 223 at 307yds and in between barrel cooling I pulled out my buddies savage TR for a go.Its only topped with a nikon prostaff 4x12 bdc, but I thought I'm up for a challenge. I used my favorite long range ammo cci are tactical. My buddy was spotting and with out cranking the turret all the way up I was hitting the 6x8 inch gong at the very bottom of the scope. I got consistent enough to hit a soda can @307 yds. Too much fun.We cranked the turret to max elevation and was able to get zeroed on the gong just past were the thick part of the reticle meets the thin.All 3 of us ended up hitting at least one pop can each and multiple clays with surprising ease. We tried cci veloster, stingers but they were way inconsistent. Next time it's 400 yds.

I'm jealous, sounds like a ton of fun. Poor old me had to golf today...lol I'm waiting on my scope to arrive this coming week so I can take mine out. Picked up some Aquila .22lr Standard and Subsonic to see if is more accurate than the CCI Blazers and Federal Auto Match that I have.

Just wait till the wind starts to pick up, it really throws that 40gr bullet around a ton...makes it more interesting haha
 
now you are talking - shimming one ring and not the other is a good way to make a dent in the scope tube - don't ask please, I just know - uurrgh
the rail with the 20 moa milled in allows the two rings to at least be in line with each other, vertically , horizontally and "tilt" wise. I find 20 MOA neeede even to 100 yds if I am using less expensive optics that do not have much in the away of elevation/windage adjustment. for example any adjustment range under 30 MOA almost always makes it so that I need to have at leasr 15 MOA of the base , with the "slope" or tilt of the base going down towards the muzzle as discussed above.

Going to see if my local gunsmith can mill my rail for another 20moa. Shooting .22lr past 200 yards is quite addicting....
 
Received an EGW 20 moa rail a few weeks ago and threw that on my Savage. Now I'm patiently waiting for my Vortex Diamondback HP 4-16x44 that's in the mail.....
 
I did a little playing at 200 yards yesterday with my Norinco NS552. I had originally shimmed my scope in the rings for extra elevation, but decided to pull the shims out and try that way. I still had plenty of elevation for 200 yards. From sighted in at 50 yards I added 18 moa to get on at 200. I was hitting a 7.5" steel target pretty regularly, and I wasn't even using good ammo, just CCI Blazer.

I wish I had those really long distances to shoot 22! I built a fun long-range 22 setup, I designed it to have a lot of adjustment with 30 MOA cant in the integral rail and the 90 MOA adjustment of the scope. I should have 60 MOA of up adjustment left on the turret, plus (edit: it's actually) 30 MOA on the NPR2 reticle (at max 15x power), for a total of 90 MOA. Adjustment of 70 MOA should theoretically get me to 400 yards with a standard velocity round. But I've only ever shot to 300 yds!

I was at the range yesterday breaking in my 10TR, and I brought my Norinco JW15-13 backpacker to help fill the time while letting the solvent set in the 10TR.

After figuring out which lump of dirt to aim at on the berm at 200 yards I was able to ping the metal disc 8 out of 10 times. Not sure how big it was as I didn't walk my fat arsenal out there, but I would guess 6 or 8". I was using American Eagle 38gr and the Winchester black box m22 stuff. Scope is a cabelas brand 2-7x32.

I love shooting 22LR at distance. Watching the bullet drop is hilarious!
 
Some one left a Do-All Outdoors Impact Seal 4" Dancing Ball Bouncing Target around the range.
It now have an "S" Hook through it and can be suspended in front of a berm at 200 yards.
Easy to hit while static but it will shift about 4 inches up and down while swinging but hits towards the outside edge will cause it to move right to left about the same.
MiniMags take about 6/10's of second to arrive.
 
I was able to stretch the legs on my new to me Mossberg 146ba today.Was fighting a good tail wind ,probably helped.Was shooting AR tacticle CCI at 340 yds.I used all my elevation on my Vortex HST 6-24x50 and my bottom hash mark.I still had to aim about 18" over the gong to hit it but it was surprisingly easy once I new where to aim.Unfortunately with the wind came rain and fugly weather and chased us out early today.
 
Well my scope finally came in. Setup is perfect. With the 20 moa rail and 80 moa of elevation adjustment on the scope, I can achieve a 25 yd zero and have enough adjustment to hit 400 yds with zero hold over. Hopefully this week I'll work on group size.

Nice set up! Mine is almost identical. Did you pilar bed the stock? If so did you notice any real accuracy gains? You ever checked out that mark and Sam after work video where they go for 700 or something like that yards with the .22?
Edit:: taken from the inter web ::CCI VELOCITOR 1435 fps 40 grain, If zero at 100 yards, 725, yards = 91.27 foot drop, 144.18 moa, 41.94 mil, 2.79 seconds, 27 ft-lbs, 555 fps.
