Hi guys.

For those of you who have built precision rifles for PRS disciplines, gong bangers or long range rock smashers, we have a new event for you at the SPRA Nokomis range! While this is "Square range belly shooting", it is a great opportunity to stretch your rifles legs out and get some practice in. Who knows, you may even enjoy it!

August 20, 2016 we will be hosting the first "Boomer Shoot" which will be open to any and all rifles with the exception of 50bmg or larger. Muzzle brakes are allowed and all calibers will be scored together. This will be a great opportunity to see real time exactly how you and your rifle can do at long ranges in the wind.

This is a club level fun shoot that will start after the regular long range Palma match that morning. It will be a great time with like minded people who are out to have a great time!

More info can be found in my post in the "Competition" forum.

800, 900 & 1000 yards for score. 2 sighters and 10 for score on each distance for a total of 36 shots. There will also be a blow off (foulers and barrel warm up) before the start.

Well folks, just a reminder that the Boomer Shoot is fast approaching!

It sounds quite likely that there will be some fun shooting at extended distances after the match event.

Darn. Kind of wish I had my 7mm built for this I would consider coming out. Not sure how my pea shooter 6mm would do that far out there.

It will do just fine. Besides, it will give you some good data to take back home! I may have to bring my 6mm and my 338 as I have no load work up on either one. (Been way too busy with work and family obligations). I'm going to try the 338 first but if I can't get it on or to group in the practice shots, I'll switch and give the 6mm a try. Hopefully one of them will work!!!

Remember that this is all for fun and to gauge interest in making a new club level class I'd like to see called F-unlimited!!

Might do fine. Only 24gr of imr8208xbr pushing a berger 105 at 2611fps. Have yet to shoot it past 100M. Might as well mention I haven't shot any gun past 330 yards lol.

Do you use any ballistic calculators? If so, get the sight height over bore numbers as accurate as you can and come on out! If you don't have a ballistic calculator, I'm sure I can plug your data into mine and get you data to get you on target.

Us 6mm guys could just hang at the end of the line :)

Im just waiting to see if I can get out and get my dope for this round and if it aint toooo windy out that day.

How do you get to the range there anyway?

Easiest way is to go just past Lanigan and hang a right (south) on highway 20 to Nokomis.
Once you follow the highway through Nokomis, stay on 1st Ave East.
1st Ave East turns into a gravel road at the edge of town. Stay on 1st Ave East.
Go 6 miles (9.5km) on gravel road that was 1st Ave East.
Range and clubhouse are visible from the road, North Star Range sign is posted at the gate along with the red range flag.

Still a possibility I might make this. It'll be a "No plans this weekend, pack up and go" type situation. I have family in Saskatoon that I could visit and getting a day or two off work isn't a problem.

In either event, good on you guys for putting it on.
