Long Range Rifle: Cartridge Selection

I have a rifle similar to what you are looking for. Just the caliber and action might not be to your liking. It is a Vanguard action with a 30" Krieger heavy palma barrel chambered for 300 Wby. It also has a Holland Quick Discharge brake. It is currently getting a Manners T5A installed. Did a bit of shooting with it this fall by rough fitting the old plastic stock on it. I was able to get a 210gr Matrix VLD flying at 2988fps at the muzzle with 78.5gr of IMR7828SSC powder in Norma cases. Used some 150gr nosler ballistic silvertips for hunting this year and was getting 3405fps with 87gr of the 7828SSC.

Go with the 338 Edge. Lots of good bullets available. I have 2 of them, one on a small shank long action and one on a single shot target action. They both like Nosler Accubonds 225grs and 250grs as well as the SMKs 300grs.

I've decided to do the rifle on 338 Edge. I've wanted a wildcat for a while, and I don't have anything that large in the armoury yet. Not a very original build, but it should suit my purposes well. Now to further my sourcing/pricing/researching of parts and optics.
