Long Range rifle dilemna............

I think I saw this rifle for sale once already?

You need to post the specs and the price you would be asking to help us determine what decision you should make.

The big boomers seem a lot of fun on paper. I imagine the reality is that they are way less practical than for example a 22, 6mm or 308 for most of us. If you have the space to really use it and you don't need the money then I cannot see why you would want to sell a rifle that you have invested your energy into having specifically built.

You are right. I need credibility, but I can't prove to you guys that I have it. I am at peace with that. I can take being fried by guys with more money than me. There are experts in this forum, their knowledge is very humbling. I am sorry to say that even if such a gift was given to me, I don't use the bigger calibers for fear of going broke after a range session...lol. I don't $5k to trow down on a rifle or components, but I am lucky enough to have about 1100 yards of crown land down the road to shoot at, so if anyone going to Newfoundland wants to have an LR fun day, I will show you where to go, and I will meet you with my precision .22LR in hand. :)
 
I would keep it as you seem to just want to sell it because you're not using it. It is worth a lot more to you than it is to someone else, even if it doesn't feel that way. After you sell it for half of what you paid you will be sitting there with a wad of cash and a bottle of whisky thinking to yourself if you want her back tomorrow, you'll need yet another couple grand. And then you'll have to figure the new one out all over again.
 
Unless you are hurtin' for cash, then keep her. If she does not tickle your fancy anymore, sell her. You could also donate to JAGDMORDER, just saying. Good luck.
 
I have only sold 2 guns in my life as a young guy with no money, they were not sold for the money they were sold to get other rifles that I wanted more but could not afford, 20 years ago I decided I would not sell another gun which I have not. Now a guys is older a little more cash kids getting into it, I beleive I have purchased 4 this year. never sell a gun you will be sorry after.

I think it's fairly common to think a boomer magnum is needed to get to 1000 yards and beyond based on all the net hype. Most quickly realize (me included) that 1000+ can be done cheaper and just as effectively with smaller calibers, and the boomer quickly becomes an expensive, but still fun, overkill toy.
 
This rifle is dedicated for hunting long range. The sole purpose of the cartridge/rifle combination is KINETIC ENERGY and accuracy at 1000 yards or further at a reasonable cost with excellent brass life. Period. It was not purchased for target shooting. It has nothing to do with net hype. I bought this rifle long before anyone on here ever discussed 338 Lapua AI or 338 Edge.

Reality is that I do not shoot the rifle much and I do not engage in long range hunting very often.

(I'm sorry, that was the only thing I could think of when I read "KINETIC ENERGY"! I'm now imagining him whispering things like "...and as a Navy SEAL, I needed a lot.... Of kinetic energy..." Hahahaha!)
 
you shouldn't sell it, because you not going to get as much as the amount you wanted for it, and building another one will cost as much, unless you stick with SAkO TRG or Timberwolf in your next purchase. I myself already got a Sako TRG 42, and my next one will be Timberwolf.
