hey guys this looks to be the place to ask questions lots of experianced members to help me out . Im building a long range gun in a 308 and want to know what to use for a scope. There has to be an easy to use scope out therefor a guy on a working mans budget ,i was thinking Leupold with the M1 turrets any thoughts i want to shoot out to 700 yards . The reason i thoiught Leupold is that i use the CDS on my hunting rifle and its very accurate but the turrets only set for 600 . This new rig im putting together is for fun and to build my long distace shooting skills without breaking the bank.

The Leupold Mark 4 would be a good choice, and in the same price range you can look at Nightforce as well. (both in the $2000 neighborhood) But you didn't say what kind of price range you had before "breaking the bank"

You have a multitude of good options within that price range. Sightron SIII, Vortex Viper PST or HS, Leupold VX3 w/ M1, Leup Mk4, used NF, Conquest w/ TT's, Weaver Super Slam, etc.

For 700 yard shooting I like at least a 6x scope, but more doesn't hurt if you're not worried about weight or bulk.

In F class shooting to 1000y the scopes of choice seem to be NF and Sightron and big power 12x by 42 NF, 10 to 50x Sightron. A lot of shooters have gon away from Leupolds as they have been known to have tracking problems, maybe the newer Mark 4 are fine
I may be posting a Nightforce 12 to 42 benchrest new last year with box on EE boards
