Well, myself and my good buddy Gunslingr had ourselves a long range shooting trip up north past algonquin park this week. Three days (Monday through Wednesday) of non-stop shooting fun in the middle of nowhere on a remote power line.
We took 6 rifles.
.22's
-Ruger 10/22 (Mine)
-Cooey .22 (Gunslingrs)
-Savage 84 (Gunslingrs)
30-06's
-Remington 700 (Mine)
-Huskavana (Gunslingrs)
-M1 Garand (Mine)
We had never shot at anything close to this range before (300 meters max at base borden) so this was a real learning experience. We did bring 600 rounds of ammo, but only used about 300. All of it was loaded ourselves.
The load was:
150 gr FMJ bullets
A massive assortment of once fired brass that we full length and neck resized. Mostly range pickup.
49.5 gr Reloder 15
CCI Large Rifle Match primers
Tests at 100 meters at our gun club showed that this shot about 2 MOA with our rifles.
We snowshoed out through 12" of snow towing sleds with the targets in order to set up downrange. All in all, a fantastic trip, perfect weather, and loads of fun. Enjoy the photos.
Setting up at 200 meters the first day.
Shooting 200 with the 10/22
2nd day
View back to the truck from 1000 meters
View back to the truck 10x zoom.
Bullet hits to the right of target at correct height.
The first results once the windage and elevation was corrected for with the rifles.
Hits in front of the target before the range was established.
Bullet hits in the snow.
After a long day of pounding off rounds of 30-06.
