Na, he's just a horsefly - a pest that follows you around.
Last year my 10 year old shot his first animal (antelope buck) at 225m with a 308 firing 125 grain reduced recoil factory loads while it was walking with the wind blowing....
Is there an age/crappy ammo handicap and if so does it come into play again when you are older than 40??? ;-)

You really ought to lay down behind an ATRS tactical rifle. I am not kidding when I say 600 yard shots are dead easy. I bet you even get 9 out of 10 if you concentrate.
Even though the 300gr SMK is considered a "target" bullet it performs wonderfully on game.
The real question is how many of the shooters that say they can shoot like that can ACTUALLY REALLY do that??
The ANSWER - not very many.
Hence my point - not many have any business taking shots like that - That's all I'm trying to say
Problem being that the phony hunting shows make it look real easy and many, if not all of the up and coming Elmers fall for it.

When we age the gun sounds louder, the head rattles more, and the bony shoulders feel it more. Wont even talk about the eyesight! So many handicaps its a wonder we even bother.
Well being a dad I can never resist one more chance to post this pic....I will say that 225m for him under those conditions was a very long way. I thought about passing on the shot but but the country was so wide open that I knew he would not get "in the bush" on us plus with the snow tracking would be a breeze if we had to. And lets not forget the most important thing...practice....He had shot the rifle extensively to 200 yards for a few months prior to this trip...

That's a good shot and a nice pronghorn. Nice pic too. I won't weigh in on my own LR hunting experiences, I don't need the flack. - dan
