Long Range tang sight for 1873

Are you talking a tang mounted conventional vernier or a simple barrel mounted sight with a raising bar & sliding peep.
Mounting a tang sight on a new Miroku model 73 requires a bit of work, the sliding tang safety has to be removed & a blank made to fill the slot and then drilled & tapped for tang screw spacing....It can be done,(Ive done 2, a 73 & a 86) but will require a bit of rudimentary machining to achieve a good result.

I may be wrong but the '73 does not have a tang safety. It is the '86 that does. I checked their website, the '73 does not show a tang safety. The '73 tang is drilled and tapped for a tang sight. I have a '73 and a '86.

It is easy to mount a tang sight on the "73. Select the tang site you wish and then select the appropriate sight base for the '73. it should come with the correct mounting screws. Remove the crew hole screws and mount your new sight.

I stand corrected and thank you ...upon looking again it was both 86's I removed the tang safety.
