Hi guys, just thought I would drop a few lines and pictures. I decided to try the most unlikely rifle at long range. And I had some unexpected results! LOL!

This first group was shot at 400 yards with a 87grain Hornady BTHP. Velocity is 2798fps average. Fun stuff! w:h:

The last picture is of the 6mm TCU Cartridges I am using. A fun gun to shoot indeed!

This little rifle is performing Wayyyy beyond what I thought it could do!
I managed 4 concecutive hits on a 10" plate at 600 yards as well. But never took a picture of that. Maybe next time.

I will spend more time over the next few days checking/proving my trajectory. I see now that I HAVE TO get a 20 MOA picatinny rail and burris signature rings to milk as much elevation as I can from this scope! I have maxed out at 650yards so far. It would be halariously unexpected if I could get this combo to shoot out to 1000 yards! we will see!

Hope you guys enjoyed this unusual thread!

Great job! You don't often here of Contenders & Encores in this forum. They aren't particularly "tacti-cool" either so they're definitely not as fashionable.

Why would you say it's unusual? While break actions aren't normally known for their inherent accuracy potential but there's plenty of good shooting Thompsons and Ruger #1's out there. The 6mm TCU is an accurate cartridge by most accounts so I'm not personally surprised to hear of your success. ;) I think 1,000 yards with this cartridge might be asking a little much but why not try it. What's the worst thing that could happen if it doesn't work out?

A heavy barrelled stainless steel Encore is something I'd one day like to own.

My sister-in-law did some shooting with me today.
I got the rifle on center at 600 yards and let her do the shooting. She did very well!

I think shes getting hooked on this shooting stuff!

Thompson is getting a good rep as being good shooters. I have read rave reveiws and range reports on the Thompson warlord. I think if I was in the market for a new hunting rifle I would take a serious look @ them.
