Long story short, fairly new.

I grew up in the Fraser Valley, BC. My uncle taught me safety, respect and how to use a gun. I've been hooked ever since. Ended up moving to Ontario and been living here since '03. Fast forward to the interesting part, last year.

After a morning of fishing with my brothers, we parted ways and I decided to spend the next few hours scouting fishing spots. A couple hours into it, I came across a condemned bridge with a creek running under it. Caught a couple whitefish, threw them back and my hook caught something else. I cut my 80Lb line (I use it to catch a wide variety of fish), put on a heftier hook and weight and pulled up a rifle still in the bag. Called it in and took a few pictures. The police came and took it for analysis.

Needless to say, I wanted it back. I thought about it everyday for weeks. The fishing trophy of fishing trophies. After some talking, I was told if I wanted to attempt to get it after it had been tested, I needed my PAL. Got lucky and did the PAL and RPAL tests in a month. On a whim, I bought an old unknown, rusted gun part to practice rust removal on. After finding the serial number, I learned it was a Winchester 1890 manufactured in 1900.

During cleaning, parts gathering and other gun purchases, I did some research on the whereabouts of the creek gun. It turns out it was a Mossberg .22 semi-auto rimfire from the late 40's to mid 60's. Also, forensics had destroyed all but the barrel to retrieve the serial. ####. At least I had the Winchester.

And now, that project is entering the final stages of completion. I'm looking for more antique rusty relics to breathe life into and parts to turn into custom works of functioning art. That's the main reason I'm here. To obtain, learn from others experiences and get feedback and ideas. Of course, I'd love to show my progress and see what the community thinks.

Thanks for welcoming me to CGN.

TL;DR
Went fishing, caught a gun. Want to restore and make custom guns.
