Long Term ATT no Restricted yet

HI, I was wondering if it would be wise to go ahead and fax my range membership to the CFC without even owning my first restricted (currently have a Bubba'd SKS).

I currently have my PAL and RPAL and the wife has authorized only 1 restricted pistol for now. I am a member of a range here as well.

I was thinking of jumping on the group order bandwagon of the Springfield XD-M thread and wanted to know if I should already give the CFC the info so the transfer is approved easier and I get the long term ATT ahead of time or should I decide to do a buy earlier than the group buy.

I'd contact them and see if they will keep in on file if you fax it to them. Each province operates differently, so you never know. I've been having to fax them proof of range membership every time I buy a new restricted. ie-they don't keep it on file.

Yeah, so does mine, but they still want me to fax a copy of my range card every time. Gov. efficiency at it's best!:p
 
Your very first restricted purchase will take a few days to complete the transfer, while your ATT while take no time at all once you fax them a copy of your range membership, so you can do them at the sametime.
 
i just got my first pistol home last night, im in ontario and i was told it will take a few weeks to get my latt. the crappy part besides of having to wait so long is that ill be in quebec for 2 weeks when it arrives.
 
Doesn't hurt to give them a call to see if they will store it on file I guess so I will go that route... thanks for the responses. Hope the wife allows that XDM.
 
If you're in ontario thats a negatory, they won't authorize anything unless you have a restricted in your name. Also there is a good chance that you wont even be able to fax the stuff on your own, I've been trying to do the same thing and the CFC people told me that even when I have my restricted in my name, the club should send them the info for the ATT not me. I thinks its a load of hooey but oh well.

I started by telling her just 1. And it was just a cheap Russian SKS Tula '51. But realizing I have my RPAL, I may as well get some use out of it. I just can't find anything worth buying for a first that is between $400 to $600.

Pistols all seem to be $700 to $1200 which is quite expensive to me. But I really can't have just one... the urge has grown too strong. "Sporterizing" the SKS satisfied the urge temporarily but my appetite for more is still strong as ever.

Winnipeg, Manitoba here. I will have to ask the range to see if they can do it preemptively then on my behalf. Thanks for your input as well.

@ the $600 range, you could get a glock 17/21 :)
 
If you just want a restricted, and something that you could sink money into over time, consider getting one of the Blue Line's stripped lowers for 150$ + tax. With shipping, will cost you about 180$.

The piece of aluminum is so scary that you have to keep it locked even in the safe, otherwise it will rape the other guns in the safe, and then run out and scare the children. It will show up with a cable tie wrapping around the magwell, to prevent magazine insertion. Overall very scary piece of aluminum, with very nice finish.

Then you can start buying parts for it - 50$ grip, 150$ lower parts kit, 250$ stock, 800$ upper, various optics, flashlights, grips, etc... You don't have to stop at just one upper - lower is marked for .22 LR, but you can put any upper up to 7.62x39 on to it. So yeah, why stop at just one upper?

And of course, since it's restricted, even a stripped lower will require an LTATT.
 
In AB you need to own a restricted before you can get an LATT. I called the other day and emailed my range membership, got a reply that I have to own a restricted before they will issue one.

On the flip side some stores tell me they will not sell me without a LATT?? Far as I can tell you have to hand over the cash, the store changes the registration to your name then you call for an LATT.

Best thing is to send in your range membership to shorten your wait.
