I can find a few reviews but I'd like to hear from those with some experience with Holosun red dots. I'm thinking about picking 1 or 2 up to use. I believe they have a 3 yr electronics warranty, 5 on glass and lifetime on the rest but are they a high return rate or reasonably reliable? I'm looking at the 403A for a number of reasons. I have enough CR2032s to start my truck and if battery life is the same as the solar models I might need to use one in 5 to 10 years. Even if battery life was drastically less than 50,000 hours they're still gonna be economical battery wise. T1/H1 mount compatibility doesn't matter to me when they come with high and low mounts anyways. I just don't want something that is going to need warranty work often. What have been your experiences with them?

I had two. They get the snot beaten out of them and have had thousands of rounds of .223 and 9mm shot underneath them. One I thought was killing batteries but it turned out the auto on feature possibly wasn't working. Holosun gave me a brand new one. I've never shot anything smaller than a 8" Hong at 100m with them not have I ever tested group size with them compared to a scope.
They keep their zero and when I say they get beat on I mean it. They get transported in a wooden crate that allows a bit of back and forth motion, they get shot rapidly then dropped on a table. I think they are good value. I've only had them for 2 years but with the use they get I'm sure it's comparable to 5 -10 years from the average shooter.

I have 3 of the 403G's. One on a 12" Grizzly pump - 300 slugs and I don't no how much bird shot. Another on a Hatsan MPA autoloader- 500 slugs and lots of birdshot. The last one is on a CSA 7.62 VZ58 with about 1500 rounds through it. All of these have been bulletproof. The mounts have stayed tight(used locktite) and no change of zero. I did buy another one for a .22 that didn't return to the last setting when it was turned on again. I emailed Holosun and they responded in about 4 hours. I returned it (Holosun paid postage) and shipped me a new one in about a week. Excellent customer service.

I've had a 403G on my Valtro 12ga for the past year. Several hundred rounds of buck, several hundred slugs and it's still ticking.

Well the 403A showed up and initial impressions are good. Overall quality is superb. The glass was a nice surprise, very little tint. Not as clear as an Aimpoint but I'll be damned if they're not far behind and ahead of many more expensive models including the Vortex RazorHD. Yes, better glass than a $530 "top of the line" red dot. Not that Vortex is hard to beat. The TRS-25 pales in comparison IMO with its deeper tint and larger dot. Mounting hardware seems to be good quality. The torx wrench even fits the hardware. Another +1 over Vortex. Both high and low mounts fit my 10/22 and XCR rails properly and the sight mounts securely to both. The high mount lower 1/3 cowitnesses AR irons. The dot flares out sooner with brightness than an Aimpoint but there is a nice balance range where the dot is fast to pick up and not flaring enough to bother me. Turning it down for more precise shooting gives a nice crisp, small dot. Overall I think these sights should be an excellent value provided they hold up. A good budget alternative to Aimpoint for those not in harms way. We'll see how it holds up to regular range use.
