Long term storage of Powders and Primers

Evening everyone,

If you have un-opened powder stored in a cool, temperature stable and dark closet, how long can it remained useful if left in those condition?

What about primers in the same environment?

Would I be better off getting some surplus ammo cans and storing them in there instead?

If they are unopened and stored in a cool, non-humid area, they should both last for years.

I've had some powders that were 30+ years old and they worked fine.

I have a bit of powder that is still working great after 40 years.
Primers? I have to think they will last decades as well.

I would imagine they'll still be usable for an easy 20 years, maybe closer to 40 or more.

I still have some WW2 surplus powder they named H4831.
A few months ago a loaded, shot and chrongraphed some in a 243.
The results on the chronograph were exactly what they were supposed to be.
