I'm still working on putting a Central sight on my '56 Faz No.4 Mk.2, and today received the sight base adaptor from Tiriaq. (thanks Tiriaq! The money order will be in tomorrows mail. Really.)
It will mount to the trigger guard bolt at the bottom and the safety bolt up top, in the upper left countersunk hole, but the existing trigger guard bolt is too short:
I need a longer trigger guard screw: I figure at least 25mm long. These apparently are threaded in British Associated threads, and the size for this is 4BA.
As for the safety lever bolt:
There's a thread about this over at gunboards: http://forums.gunboards.com/showthread.php?t=118105
But I'm not clear as to whether I need a longer bolt here or not. It appears that the adaptor plate will take the place of the safety spring block:
Have I got that right? And that the addition of a simple coil spring between the switch shaft and the adaptor plate will keep the safety switch from moving.
Up at the front end, I'm trying to mount this foresight: (can anyone identify the make of this by the way? )
It uses these inserts:
...and unless someone has a specific adaptor for it, does anyone have a spare dovetail that I can modify to accept my foresight? Specifically, I'm looking for the part that says "pat pend", as I don't want to screw up the existing one:
You can see from this pic:
...that the sight block is slanted forward; I'll level it off and cut a level slot across its side to accept my sight. My sight will almost grip it, but not quite. In order to remove the existing dovetail, does anyone have the front sight blade securing screw tool to back off the larger screw seen here:
Or should I try to make my own?
Any advice/sources/comments are most welcome.
