OK..well, it's almost embarrassing how long I've had this rifle without shooting it...but like most things that are rushed in my life, I didn't want this process to be one of them. So, I snuck off to my buddy's farm yesterday with almost every type of ammo I had on hand and did some load testing.
Conditions weren't perfect (slight wind gusts) but the goal was to really narrow down what the gun likes, then the plan is to concentrate on the winners on subsequent outings. Won't post any target photos at this point, but if you have the exact same rifle, lets compare notes.
Scope is one of the new Leopold Freedom FX 3-9 and I have to say...other than the super mushy-feeling W/E adjustments...I really like it! Reticle looked unnecessarily busy until I used it, no worries now that I have.
Best results (in order) were from;
Eley Action
Eley High Velocity HP
SK Standard
Showing promise..
Eley Club
Federal Champion
Shooting very well but I'm too cheap to feed it a diet of the stuff..
Laupua Center X
RWS-R50 (don't remember what it cost, but I rarely see the stuff around)
