Long weekend gopher hunt

Wow, ban the noob for stupid comments in the first 100 posts... Im telling you, there should be a rule

we had a huge bastard that wouldnt give us a shot under 500 yards the couple times we seen him groundhog hunting...

Daryl,

You've spiked my curiosity. Are you talking about a badger in Ontario? If you are, that's the first I've heard of them being found here.

Cheers,

Frank

First off, great trophy. saw one a couple of years ago running down the side of the road, looked like a small pony.

I was out shooting in a comp a couple of weeks ago and a few of us went to check targets, came accross a badger set and was told that everyone had been banned from going to close incase we desturbed them (they are protected over here), the area stunk.

Nice shooting

The darn things are considered a "fur bearing animal" in Manitoba and can only be taken by trappers and only during the season (app. Nov to march) when they are seldom seen.

P.S. my partners and I got 3 of them this summer.....don't tell anyone:rolleyes:

they sure had done a lot of damage to the pastures we were in...farmer thanked us and invited us back

unless ive been asked to shoot something and it hasent caused me any problems. im not about to shoot it just for sport.

groundhogs, rabbits and yotes il kill, squerrels and such i dont go after unless they start getting into things.

up to you what you want to kill and what you dont want to, not problem, it is my opinion, and its yours to say what you want. but we all know what opinions are like.

Yup, gophers can chew up a pasture real good. Never been turned down by a farmer/rancher when asking permission to shoot gophers. Just shoot a badger though and the landowner will be buying you beers! Apparently it's the badgers digging out gophers that cause the real damage.

Here is one of the dozen or so gophers I also got....they all looked like this.

the movie is UHF with wierd al (this is without looking at the video). best line ever :)

got my GF's 8 year old son to shout that out in the house when he saw the movie... she was mad at me for some reason..

Yes sir. Definaltely a badger, and not the first i've seen here either. I've seen them around the Haliburton area, and just south of there as well as out near kitchener waterloo...

Its ok for you to kill the other varmints, but some are sacred?

thats your opinion, and when your opinion interferes with a legal activity, its time to keep it to yourself, or join greenpeace.

never said it was sacred. some animals I (me personaly dont give a damn what you think) hold in higher standing than others. just like i wouldent go looking to shoot a couger or other wild cat just for the hell of it unless it made a nuisance of itself (killing my livestock etc). and its not interfering with ANYONES legal activities now is it. you sound worse than some americans i know crist on a cracker.

as i said its my opinion. if you take my opinion so seriusly you have some real problems.
