Long Winter... time to shoot.

We shoot all winter at the Charlottetown trap and skeet club, we have a Tues night skeet league under the lights and regular shooting on Thurs night and Sat, it has been a rough Feb with a major storm evey week.

My Pops and I have been shooting SC at the Roue du Roy almost every week this winter. We got back to the skeet field last week.
It's an expensive sport but man it is FUN!!

That's how it should be! The club around here shuts down all winter. I would actually consider joining if they were open in the winter. I have no time to shoot in the summer. I sometimes use the manual thrower at my rifle range to shoot a couple rounds of trap in the winter.

Stop skeet shooting in the winter? You call yourself Canadian:redface: Man the snow blowers and shovels! We only changed one day this year due to a huge winter storm that hit on our skeet day.
.
For some reason someone has decided that anything lower than -10C increases clay breakage and is hard on the machines!!
never had an issue before, but I think the machines were not cleaned properly then the plates lubed with heavy oil, that's why they were sluggish one year.

WE have virtually no snow left at all and had very little all winter but the club closes in winter. Exec says it opens when it "warms up". WTH does that mean in this part of the country?July? ;) From what I can tell since moving here there are only two seasons, winter and growing. :p

Man that is hard to believe no snow left I am so jealous. Sure wish it was like that here. :( I have at least 10 foot banks in places in my yard now and the 1st time in 22 years the honda snowblower or a chev 4x4 with a plow could not clear the drive the last storm and I had to hire a back hoe. Not to mention it is still like minus 12 today with high winds
Winter has never stopped the boys from shooting at the club that I am aware of and I remember some years having to go down into shoveled holes at the stations up to your chest in snow to shoot
Cheers

Shot 5 stand a couple of times this year in a blizzard. If you are down in SW Ontario the Rondeau Rod and Gun Club shoot skeet every Sunday and Skeet and 5 Stand on the first Sunday of every month. Members $4 a round, non-members $5 a round.

When is the last time that you shot in -40 weather? How about -30? Not everyone lives in Southern Welfario.

3macs; It's that bad up here too. Without exageration, I have 6' of snow on my front lawn, keeping our club open has been a nightmare, the tractor took 4 hours to open it Thursday, this afternoon I have to shovel it out again.

I hear you. As bad as it is here I know it is worse up your way. One would have to see many locations in the maritimes to believe it . Few buds in PEI tell me it is insane over that way also with the snow banks
Reminds me of winters from way back when all we could see after a storm was the whip antenna on my dad's 66 impala station wagon and he needed a spotter to get out at the end of the driveway since one could see nothing with the banks. We got spoiled for many years but the last two have sure made up for it
Not to mention the dam ice. Never have I spent so much on bags of sand and salt in a winter to keep the driveway usable. Well over 400 bucks now which is a lot for my place considering 3 years ago I spent like 12 dollars total
Cannot wait for it to be over
Cheers

advantage of heating my house with wood. i use the ash on the driverway. saves me from killing the bank with salt.

Hey I just joined the RRGC this year! I'll be out April 1st. Look for the big guy with the ugly old Winchester semi!

The club I belong to in Pennfield NB is open year round. It was a tough winter here in NB and between work, snow and sickness I missed out on shooting skeet since the 27th of September last year. Finally got back at it a few weeks ago and it felt great. And all the time off seemed to improve my scores!!
