I have a 1944 Longbranch No 4 Mk1* that has been converted to 7.62mm by Canadian Arsenals.
It is in VG condition overall I would say. The furniture is a mixture of Longbranch butt, and upper handguards, and a Canadian Arsenals forend. All are Walnut. The metal parts are all Longbranch, with the exception of the bolt body, which appears English. The rifle was FTR'd in England according to the very faint electro pencil on the side of the receiver. The cocking piece is CA marked for Canadian Arsenals.
The receiver and the barrel show the 4 digit conversion number and also the Canadian Arsenals crows foot stamp. The bolt bears the same number stamped on the top of the bolt handle. The barrel is marked CA 7.62mm at the muzzle and has no bayonet lugs. THe bore is exc. There is some bluing wear at the muzzle. There is some colour mismatch on the furniture, and some handling marks. The magazine is a Longbranch .303 one.
I have an Ishapore .308 magazine in unissued condition, as well as a 7.62mm extractor to go with this rifle. Photo up after work.
