Was at the gunsmith's this week and a fellow who was some sort of a gunsmith from Que. said he had a customer who wanted a mint Longbranch cut and sporterized. He was going to do it. I told him he was giving me a heart attack....I felt awful!!

Sportered .303's are a dime a dozen, they can be found all over the place for cheap. I know I'm preaching to the choir but still!

I don't suppose you managed to convince the smith and/or the guy wanting the work done that his gun was worth enough to leave it alone and to pick up an already sportered one eh??

Don't suppose you can PM me the gunsmiths phone number? I think his Longbranch may be my Longbranch's long (lol) lost brother! PLEASE help me reunite them!! I'm sure I could find a bubba to trade to the owner and save him the cost of gunsmithing! I'll even pay the shipping BOTH ways! For the love of God please let us unite them once again!

Why do people do bad things to good guns...

I guess they feel they have the right to do whatever they want with thier legal-owned private property. Go figure, that would be a hard concept to understand on this site.

If the Guy doesn't want to sell you the LongBranch can you sell him into saving you the wood stock, all the bitz that go with it, and the Mag' sights etc...He might even give you the stuff for free. After all it's just junk to him right? ;)

Tell him Marstar sells a nice synthetic stock that will fit his Enfield barrel and reciver quite nicely. http://www.marstar.ca/stocks.htm

Then you can go out and find a 'pre sportsterized Longbranch and put her back to original (as long as metal hasn't been cut off of her). :D

So you're pro bubba'ing the longbranch??

No, I think Joe is just saying that the gun is the private property of an individual, who in a "free" and democratic society should have the right to do whatever he wants with it. :)

From out point of view as milsurp collectors his choice may look like heresy, but we should respect his right to choose, not necessarily the choice he makes.

Regards,
Doug

I think if you ask ,you'll find the guy only has a possession (POL) and not a Pal licence. So he cant buy a cheap bubba or trade his longbranch in even if you offered him a nice brand new tikka t3 and scope for it.
Just something else to remember to thank the liberals for on january 23.

I can't really see how we could have any other opinion in light of recent events where someone is telling us what we have to do with "other" private property we have legally aquired.

Look, I don't want to see that type of thing happen to a nice rifle either. But, fact of the matter is, it is a grown man making a decision with his own property. End of story.

Yes, yes we do live in a quasi democrocy so if buddy wants to bubba this rifle no one should be able to stop him. But someone should sure as f$#@ try to get him to change his mind

Might not help though. Reminds me of a guy years ago proud as punch of his 'tricked out' Mustang. Ground all 4 fenders back about 6" to fit some rubber fender flares to accomodate some big ol Mickey Thompsons. Sent the original interior and transmission to the auto wreckers as he preferred a high stall automatic and some plastic high back racing seats. Cool dude, you just turned a $25,000 66 Mustang into a $5000 piece of ####e

I often look at things from a different point of view, just for the sake of doing so.
It is exactly because of guys like this, that original, uncut, unfcked guns are worth what they are. So if you already have a few good ones, this guy is making you money.
Still a damn shame though.
And NO, I did not bubba my Longbranch.
