Longest shot taken with a sks iron sites

I find it hard to make most of my shots on smaller then pie plate sized targets much past 200 yards with open sights....I just can't see them past that! You must have a very accurate SKS and some great eyes:eek:

Over the weekend I was hitting clay pigeons at 500 yards with a sks with iron sites I thought the sks wasn't really accurate after about 200 yards

My best shots involve one hand, some lotion and a box of tissues. My second best shots involve a Rem 700 with a 6.5-20x50 optic. The distances vary but I am generally satisfied with the results in both cases. And the difference between me and the OP is that I'm telling the truth.

In all fairness, some people can't tell yardage very well.

I stood at a place I shoot often at the other day with a guy who claims that he regularly shoots 500 yards. He looked at the targets I had placed at a distance, shook his head, and said "there's no way I can hit that at that distance".

Actual distance was 275 yards. After he stepped it off, and then confimed on a range finder, he was forced to admit he "guessed" the range he normally shoots at, and was off a wee bit.

However, I'm still sticking with my previous post.

I dont believe it, I just don't. Sorry if that hurts your feelings
X2. Sorry. I have trouble with that . You might be able, barely, to even see a clay at 500 yards but hitting it with an SKS? I would have to see that.
I instructed sniper shooting in the army and a very good rifle with a very good scope it is possible. Just!

I cant see a clay at 500 yards.

But you don't have to see it to hit it.

The bullet has to land some where. Unless it was fired into space.

Hey guys good news: flaming chicken is selling two sks in the EE right now. Either one (or both) could be this magical 500 yard gun. At least one of them must have the very rare "front sight that works in reverse".

i think the op should see what 500 yards actually is. im 6 feet tall and i consider a pace to be a yard perhaps he ment feet. or has no idea what a yard is as they teach mm and meters in school (i shoot in the woods a lot a pace is close enough for me). that or he's trolling. the joys of the internet

I had 4 clays and arranged them in a square u could see them but it was tough and my front site post was almost cranked up all the way

He was holding the SKS in reverse hence all the front site post cranking up. Wasn't there "this end towards the enemy" sticker? I guess it was in russian.
