Look at this crap from Marlin

It looks lkke your ramp is not on top of the barrel either, a new sight bead wont fix that. I had to reposition mine straight up and down. I think you will have to move the ramp

I sent a Remlin back to gravel once with a issue of a similar looking site on a 336BL. Rifle was brand new and was told I had to cover shipping as per company policy. If I refused to pay shipping the warranty work would not get done so once I shipped the rifle to them they replaced the front site with another that was “hammered in” again. Upon receiving the rifle I called gravel again to complain about the nw site that was marred up from hammer/tooling marks and was told that this was standard . Never again will I purchase a Remlin

Come on everyone.... That is standard feature from a Remlin, not a defect.

OP... thanks for posting, this thread can be used for the next person who asks "Henry vs Marlin" or similar.

Yes, that's pretty bad. I'd upgrade the sights to Skinners. Don't try and tap that front sight out with just a punch. It doesn't take much to snap the screws that's holding the ramp to the barrel... ask me how I know. Use a sight pusher tool to remove and install the new sight.

Glad I decided to buy my Savage and not a Remmie, at least the ramp sights don't look like that and the safety works...

Cannot understand how QC continues to degrade onshore while the Chinese QC improves......

If the fitting of the front sight is your only problem, you're fortunate since a ghost ring and post is a superior sighting system, being both faster and more precise. A ghost ring and post is affordable compared to an appropriate scope and mounts, they're readily available from numerous sources like NECG, Skinner, and XS, and if you're handy, they can be installed without the services of a gunsmith.

Yeah I had plans on buying Skinner Sights before I purchased this gun. Only reason Im keeping it is that everything else on the rifle is great. I looked the whole gun over and for some reason missed the front sight....how I could miss such an obvious flaw is beyond me. Oh well, like you mentioned their are much better sights to add to this gun.

cheers!!

Its a known problem with the qaulity control. Too many issue's. I would never buy one without seeing it even than you may miss something until you get home like yourself.

I agree,,,, I was so concerned going over the fit and finish I missed one of the most obvious things a guy should immediately catch. Good thing is the rifling is perfect, metal has no obvious rough tooling, stock mates perfect with the reciever, checkering is perfect.. Id never buy one if a company made something that fit me as well, had a big loop and chambered in a 45-70.

From my RM stamped, circa 2004 Marlin 1895GS.

To be fair, the front sight is a replacement Williams FireSight although the Marlin front sight was straight and fit well into the ramp. The cutaway hood is a Wild West Guns replacement.
