Look I have a Ruger 10/22 barrel on my Tikka T1x

Learnt today that the factory barrel is not even headspaced so that the shoulder of the barrel is up against the face of the action. Tikka sure leaves a lot up to glue and screws. Not all bad I guess, it let me install the barrel 4 thou further back to set headspace at .043.

Have you worked with Ted's barrels before? I was thinking of calling him to see if he had any available that would finish at 20".

seriously? you mean anyone could headspace to their favorite ammo just by loosening the grub screws, inserting an empty case in the chamber and forcing the barrel back to contact and then retighten the grub screws?

Yes seriously. That is what I did. I measured 100 round of my favorite took the round with the thickest rim, which happened to be .043 and used it to headspace it.
