Look what I forgot about on the back shelf CIL/Dominion classics..Why am I reloading?

220 grain KKSP in .30 cal were fantastic bullets. Use them on anything that walks in North America. Back in the early '80's, I pasted more deer than I can count with sabre tips. They were ahead of their time.

Love the way they packed the bullets. ;)

Your better off selling that stuff at antique prices am sure it would see for you, thus giving you the coin to either buy more than what you have and or more components, crazy the old sabre tip is basically what we think as the new and modern ballistic tip, we where so far ahead in many ways, but that old nasty polymer which was nylon back then did shatter up pretty good when it hit something hard, regardless you've either got the makings of a great collection or a vintage ammo shoot or a few shekels to put toward more ammo. Lovely grouping and thanks for sharing

Whoever came up with that packaging scheme should be flogged. All to save a few mm of space. After the years of these boxes rattling around in the glove box, seats etc, the cardboard has become weak and when you pull out the sleeve, half of them fall on the ground. Although maybe there was a reason, maybe to tear along the dotted line and keep half a sleeve in your shirt pocket or ???

Still haven't had a chance to get to the range to try them out, been too busy hunting, but haven't fired a shot yet. :(

Cheers

Wish I could post pictures with my phone ..u have a few boxes of 2.5 inch imperial 20g slugs .still in full boxes. Dutch

Rembo, Nice looking box of 300 H&H, not really common. Also see 244 in the background, 75gr?

I finally got out to the range and tried some of the newer Imperial 180CPE and 220KKSP and they both shot very well. Very accurate and both my 30-06 liked them. The 220 only shot 2" lower at 100M. Just need to find the critters now...

Hey guys, would you please post a picture of the actual round, not just the box. I want to see the bullets as I am curious about them. Thanks. The boxes look cool, but I want to see the product too!!

HI Guys,

Thanks for all the thoughts. Going to go to the range this weekend and try the one partial box to see how it shoots in my Voere and Husqvarna, then give it a try this season for our deer. I have enough that I can still sell it to a collector and use the $$$ for reloading. I have had it for years and it doesn't owe me anything, nor was it my Unlce's or Papa's so no sentimental value. I may just package it up as suggested and sell it off to collectors....or if it gets me a deer or moose, may hang onto it if it performs well.

Cheers

Why would one think it would not perform well?? Believe me it looks like it was properly stored from the box conditions and will kill any game just fine
I still have some boxes of the same imperial here in 303 that has never given me any issues
Cheers

I have about the same amount of boxes as the OP of the same or earlier vintage but still like new, Canadian made Winchester brand Super X 220gr. Silvertip .30-06 ammo. I bought up all that was for offer on a table at a small gunshow for $15 a box about 15 years ago. They shoot very well and hit hard from both ends from my rifle, I have no problem using them on any large game in Canada.

Also have some Dominion CPE tip .270 ammo and some Dominion white or yellow plastic tip .303 ammo.

I love that old Dominion brass... Got a bunch of 30-30 from the oldtimer who sold me my first Winchester. Seems heavier built than new cartridges and survives many loadings... My Dad is still loading the same Dominion brass he bought with his .222 back in the day... Great stuff

Thanks for posting pics of the rounds. I never hunted big game until after I was 25 (too busy with the navy) and never
got to see any of the Canadian ammunition before they went kaput. I just missed the good ol' days by about a decade.

Take some "period correct" photos with your rifles in the frame as well.

Even better use a "patina filter" option on your phone or photoshop and use an International Scout as the backdrop.

Love my old 1969 Imperial 303 Brit sabre tips, cost for 20 was $6.49 at the local "Woolworth's". pic heavy.
