It's aluminum, fits a golf ball perfectly and threads onto standard AR15 barrel threads.

By the way, what are the threads on AR barrels? It's 1/2-24 UNF, right? I haven't actually threaded yet as I couldn't remember the thread size. I'm also going to cut some grooves in it to make it easier to turn onto the barrel. Basically, it's not done. :D

Sask,

Let me go digging before you go buy one. Brownells' sells them, but I don't know the price off-hand.

It is NOT a standard thread.

Drop me a note offline.

Not tactical enough, paint it black then I'll be impressed. :D Whats your profession?

I was going to buy one. It is 1/2 x 28 and if I remember correctly it was $21.50 ish USD.

CNC lathe is pretty much the only alternative to shelling out for the tap...

I have 1/2 x 28 but it will cost you one of your fat gals:dancingbanana: .

Seriously, if you need stuff like that try MSC Industrial. They have everything and ship to ME. Can also get you a thread guide for the morning after:p

Aw!!! #### you guys...THE CGD is looking for you now....LOL

Better not talk about that here....Foxer will kill the post:(

Do you not need to turn of the gas system some how before you pull the trigger on that? I don't know squat but I figure the yugos put the valve on the SKS with th e grenade launcher for some reason.

Just don't want anything bad to happen because I really like seeing your projects!

ArmedSask: it is not that uncommon a tap : 1/2-28 UNEF, it is National Extra Fine. I think even Acklands/Grainger, any tool supply place, etc. should have it. You should not have to order it out of the US.
I have one to lend if you are really desperate.

Ahab.
