I have a fully operational beer bottle mortar in my basement back home. Please don't report me.

I'm in the design stage of my golf ball launching, breach loading field gun which will be scaled up to concrete filled beer cans at some point in time.

Let's just keep this between you and me.

I've been looking for a Canadian supplier myself. Acklands/Grainger doesn't list them but can probably source them. They won't sell to individuals anymore anyway.

The only place I found is KBC Tools & Machinery (w w w.kbctools.com). They are a US company with branches in Canada including right near me. I'm going to check them out on Monday and order a tap or two.

The item in question is their SKU #1-372-212. A 1/2"x28 NEF tap that lists for $11.24. Not sure if the price is $CDN or $US but a fairly good deal either way compared to Brownells.

BTW They also have AR buffer tube taps listed there although they seem about $25 more expensive than Brownells. Go figure.

I ended up getting one today from KBC Tools. Price was as in their online catalog in $CDN (11.24 or something like that). Seems decent enough, and for that price I don't really care if it lasts. Time to make some homebrew muzzle brakes now....

And maybe a golf ball launcher down the road.:D

Still contemplating what sort of breach, interupted screw is better but a lot more complicated to make then the falling block system.

Wouldn't the mass and aerodynamics of the golf ball cause excessive gas pressure for an AR? When you test fire with your new attachment, it would be interesting to see some chronograph results. Could you do the same with a 12g shotgun or would the barrel walls be too thin. Very interesting device armedsask!

I'm going with falling block. Easier to machine, cheaper, and effective.

As for the golf ball launcher, I'm going to try and find a flashhider with the supressors threads. That way I don't have to remove it to attach my golf ball launcher.

How'd this project turn-out? Have you launched any yet? I have one made, but just need to bore out the barrel/chamber of mine.
What diameter did you use for the 'barrel' of the GBL? I'm thinking 1-11/16".
 
This project sits on my desk due to lack of time. Between moving 3 times in the past month and starting the new job, all my projects are on hold due to lack of time. It will get done sooner or later.

No idea what size bore I used, I pretty much just eyeballed it and hit it perfect by accident. :D
 
sure I could, if all my stuff wasn't spread out between my house 2 hours away, the new place I'm moving into and the place I'm staying right now.
