Look what this kid did to an SVT-40 !!!

very nice... tons of elbow grease involved in a project like this. Always good to see a NR rifle that makes the liberals squirm :)

Mine isnt a QUARTER OF THE AWESOME THAT YOURS IS !! stumbled across your build a day ago. haha until then I thought I was the only guy to have shaped a SVT similar to an SVD... guess im not alone. I was thinking about adding actual Tiger/Dragunov/PSL parts to mine when I first started the project back in the spring... But I quickly realized how big of a pain in the ass it was to find ANYTHING SVD related for sale, not to mention affordable. And how in the hell would I get the stuff into this country. I was lucky enough to find an authentic PSO style scope like yours IN CANADA , I was grateful for that :) SOooooo I decided to keep a good amount of the SVT 40 look in order to keep things simple, affordable and quick to throw together. I couldnt be more happy with the way it turned out :D

The SVD bipod that is on yours.... is it Russian, or is it a Hong Kong clone, how much did you pay for it??

Thanks, I just took a different tack is all. There is definately more wood working in yours (that front must have been a PITA to figure out ;) ). Sourcing the parts was definately the most difficult part as far as mine was concerned. That and figuring out just how to fab one based only on pictures from the net. A patient wife and lots of time online sniffing ebay, gunbroker and some of the Ukranian surplus parts sites. You should check out Dimitri as well, his work was my inspiration.

The bipod on mine is a very good quality replica (the only part on mine not surplus stock or fabbed by me - couldn't find a real one anywhere), the only difference being one rivet/leg instead of two. The Chinese military uses them on the NDM-86's.

I've noticed prices on SVD parts really start to spike as supply dries up... it'd be tough to do the same project now.

FYI... I really like the stencil on your stocks butt plate :) ... nice touch!
