So since the amnesty, no verifiers needed, called CFC, verified it over the phone, gave me the data I needed to register online, done....now to clean it up....anyone have any idea what it's worth? Got it from a buddy sans PAL, so now it's legit, might wanna sell it.

Interesting, I have the exact same rifle that belonged to my grandfather, I am told it was issued to him when he was in the Strathcona Mounted Rifle regiment. Also interested in the value, I checked a book at work, estimated value about $500 US, apparently the most desireable version is in 405 Win.

Very nice. I saw a .30-06 rifle version years ago, and although I had heard they were chambered in .303 Brit, I never saw one. Finding one in 7.62X54R would also be quite a coup. Great pics by the way.

:slap: how precocious of that little bugger to Waltz into your life... send it to me and I'll straighten it out! I have one in much better shape, but in .30 Government (.30/40) Wanna trade?

Russian military adopted Mosin over Win 1895 for trench warfare due to the bolt being more convenient over lever, IIRC. I'd loved to own one but probably would never bother.

I fired a .405 last week, one of my stalking clients had it in his car so we killed a tree as it is far too much gun for deer here, keeping it for boar!

Nice score! Love it! I know someone that has one and is not even a shooter as such. He won't part with it because he inheirited it from his grandfather.

I never cease to be amazed at the optimism of the designers when sight graduations like that are seen!

An elderly RCAF vet I know bought one of these rifles so chambered as soon as he was discharged from WWII. He still has it. I am hoping to go over to visit with him and get some pics of him with it while he is still around.

Too bad the serial number is etched all down the side of the reciever. Unique rifle to say the least!

I have seen a rifle in .30r Br. and a friend has the carbine in .405. I have tried to talk him out of it, but it was his father's. I imagine that would get the attention of your shoulder in .405

I am looking at buying one of the new production run 1895's in .405 Win. I probably will, the price is  , but there is no way around it. The rifle is NIB.

I might commit to the purchase today.
