So I'm helping a buddy today sort through an estate of a guy (who I didn't know) that died a few years ago. Most of it is junk. All of a sudden I spy a box of old gun parts. On loser inspection, most of the bits are odds and sods beat up surplus American M16 parts and various Lee Enfield sporter parts (nothing prohib and no receivers). But then I spot a complete M16 bolt carrier group in decent condition with some finish wear.

I got the complete bolt group ;)

Now I need to figure out of I should sell it or keep it for a future build. The word "unobtainium" comes to mind...

For those who don't know, this seems to be a Diemaco-made M16 bolt group, probably one used by Colt in the States on a US Gov contract back in the 80's. Identical to current CF issue. Bolt is a proper MPC.

Yup, and worth quite a bit to a Colt Canada/Diemaco fan ;)

If that's the case, sell it and buy something new that will suit your needs. It's a BCG, no better or worse than any other quality milspec BCG that's on the market. It would hold little glamour to me.

Neat find under the circumstances, though.

Whoa yeah, lucky find. If it is valuable, I'd totally sell it to a collector who loves it, and use the cash to buy a new one and then some.

No idea. Judging by the stuff that was with it, I suspect us army surplus so who knows?

Functionally it's sound and not beat up, but there is finish wear from firing and probably a lot of cleaning. If nobody buys it, I'll re-park it and use it in a future build.
