Hey guys, Im looking for your sugestions and recomendations on an air rifle. I live in the middle of now where and as much as I can shoot the 22 or .410 all day long with out anoying the neighbors there are times when I want to keep the sound down (baby sleeping). Also, I used to practice quite a bit with my old 500-fps gamo springer but its not what it used to be.

Here is what I am looking for.
Something capable of taking care of pests around the house if needed
.177 or .22
Price isn't all that much of an issue

Also, can anyone point me in the right direction for one in Ontario?

Thanks in advance...RyanB

I am looking for something that requires a PAL.

As far as price goes....honestly it doesn't mater (lets say $800 and down)

RWS Magnum 350.....

Ridiculously accurate, and a hammer with heavier pellets.

I shoot mine from my back porch into my stock pond at 112 yards, once to make a few bubbles, and then shoot the bubbles....Or cattail heads on the edges.

Complete penetration on water filled pop cans out past 70 yards.

.177"

Specialty Shooting Sports in BC HW80 in .22 $500 + change.............Harold

I agree ...That model in .177 or .22 is the standard that all the others wish for.Deadly accurate and lasts several lifetimes.Mine is 35 years old and shoots like new.It has dropped rats out to 40 yards with open sights. The sights on an HW80 is target quality with inserts to change the sight picture. It is a big heavy rifle built to firearms quality.Weihrauch is one of the very few companies that have never compromised on the build quality of their guns. While the other companies have gone to plastiky componants and moved their operations to Turkey or China, Weihrauch stayed in good o'l Germany where they could guarantee good results.

there are a few different models of the HW80 in speeds of 495 to almost 900fps...what are the differnces or what are others using

One is unscrewed with full powered ,[over 500fps]the way it's designer intended it to be used and the other butchered model[under 500fps] is mangled to 1/2 throttle. It's like having a muscle car with 1/2 the pistons removed.Harold

I suggest you go to the Canadian airgun forum and got to their gun exchange.Look to purchase anything by Weihrauch from the HW50s on up.Any of these rifles will put a smile on your face.Herman Wiehrauch [the owner] shoots the HW50s ,and is usually the first rifle grabbed by him if he goes plinking., so there is no difference in precision or quality between the cheapest and the most expensive.Even the little HW30s[under 500 fps in .22] is incredibly accurate and has become a favorite in many airgun collections.

recommendations for airgun

.. others that you can consider are Air Arms s410, my personal pick Airforce Condor(can deliver 50+ fpe) on target, or for the super elite of airguns the Daystate Air Ranger up to 80fpe in .25 cal. These are all pre charged pneumatics or pcp guns. They are more accurate than springers like the HW80 which I have owned for 20 years. pcps have almost no recoil and as a result are very accurate. The Condor can be bought for <$1000. .. for whatever its worth.

Cheers.

if you are out in the middle of nowhere i would just buy CCI CBs and save the money.

out of a >20" barrel they will be quieter than most airguns, and they are far more lethal than all but the most expensive ones: a 29 grain CB at 750FPS generates 32 foot lbs at the muzzle. .22 LR subsonic target ammo is over 100 ft-lbs.

How much do those go for? They sound sweet!

If you're looking for a 1000 fps .177 cal. there's a Beeman at Cabelas that's nice. About 200$ and comes with a cheap 3-9x....I think 32 scope. My brother swears by it for varmints, and it impressed me when I tried it. The muzzlebrake gives it more crack than my older Ruko(no brake), but nothing to wake a baby up.

i got a beeman dual cal (PAL) at the airgunsource around 3 years ago for around 200.
it is all you need for pesting, accurate enough and comes with a scope & case.

but in all honesty my lever action .22 with CCI subsonic .22 LR rounds is just about as quiet. actually it is that close in sound level i can't tell the difference.
