Ok, so I have priced out the closest thing I can find from a very reputable manufacturer and am wondering if I maybe missed another brand I should be looking at before I pull the trigger.

I am currently looking at a Steyr CLII SX Light in 308 with these features

20" Fluted and Mannox coated barrel with threaded muzzle
No sights
Threaded cap and Muzzle Brake as options for the barrel
spare detachable mags
Set trigger
Picatiny scope mounting rail
SSG bolt knob (large round knob rather than slippery butter knife handle)
It weighs in at 6.3lbs and I do not want anything heavier

Now this is pretty much exactly what I want...........What I do not like is the barrel length, I would prefer something in the 18" or even as short as 16" range but while keeping all the other options.

I considered a Merkel Helix but they do not offer a set trigger or larger bolt knob...........

Is there any manufacturers I missed with a similar offering?

It doesn't take much to bob and crown a barrel and you can add any bolt knob you want... so pick whatever platform you want and a couple hundred will take care of your other concerns.

you can not legally cut even a bolt action barrel down to 16"

not to mention with a fluted barrel it makes it horribly ugly.

Weight concerns and the availability of a set trigger in other platforms is another issue along with custom rifles having very poor resale.

I though I was clear in wanting a rifle from factory with those options, nevermind
