It will be used in the gopher patch shooting off table and prone off bipod and off hand shooting. Some range shooting for practice. A scope in the 3x14x40 range will be installed
Regular stock or thumb hole?
Beaver tail or regular fore end?
Two stage trigger or single?
Pros and cons of each?
Anybody own these different styles?
I own a 22 with regular stock and don't know if these extras will be better or worse

Buy one of the 64 MS repeaters that Nordic Marksman has coming in. It has one of the nicest stocks you will find for positional shooting and is guaranteed to be a tack driver. Done. Search over.

How deep are your pockets? Have been on the fence for a while on another Anschutz. My 190 and Cil/Anschutz 310 haven't seen much gopher patch time since I got hooked up with CZ 452's. The bolt in the CZ feels better. With a YO Dave trigger job, they work well. My interest is with a 1710 DKL. Don't know any one around here to try one out. On the other hand, unless you're feeding the Annie high$ ammo, will it perform better out in the field. Good luck, post pics.

I have an mpr. would not want to carry threw a gopher patch. its about 9lbs scoped. would go with on of the shorter barreled lighter models. no need for a heavy long barrel.

Which Anschutz to get depends a great deal on how much you want to spend. The suggestion of the 64 MS repeater is a good one. It has a very good stock and a two stage trigger. I have one and like it a lot. The 64 action on this rifle is the same as on the MPR, which is a little bigger than those found on earlier 64's, such as the 180, 190, and 310's. The modified 64 action is an improvement over the older style 64 actions.

The 1416 models have the modified actions and single stage triggers, the springs of which can be swapped for something lighter if needed. The stock style is one of personal preference. If you have a bigger budget, the 54 action 1710's are terrific. The 1710's are excellent rifles, with the heavy barrel 1710 D HB on sale right now at Nordic Marksman. It has a single stage trigger, while the Silhouette Model 1712 has a two stage trigger.

Another for the MS R match silhouette. Light enough with shorter barrel and a stock that will ride the bench. 2 stage trigger, 5 and 10 round mags. I have a 64 match I use off the bench and a MPR on that latest boat coming..

Does the Anschutz stocks have the rail built into the bottom of the for end? On some of the descriptions it says it does.
Some one set me straight

Depends on whether you want 54 or 64 action. For what you state you want it for I think you will be fine with the 64 action. Get yourself a nice 1416 DHB and you won't go far wrong.

You won't regret your purchase that is for sure. My only regret about buying an Anschutz was selling it.

Just as a matter of interest, if you're using an Apple iMac or laptop or iPad, it's super easy to make the ü in Anschütz ... you just have hold the key down for a second or two and bam you'll be offered several options. Also works great with adding stuff to e (as in café) and c (as in François).

Probably something similar with PC's ...

Tutorial over :)

Incidentally I have a CIL 310 that I bought new in 1973 with my tips from working at The Olde Spaghetti Factory in Winnipeg. The Leupold Ultralight 3 - 9 x 33 EFR is the perfect match (for me, anyways).

With the options you list, I would go for. Match 54 action, 2 stage trigger, regular forend.

Sounds like you are looking for a 1712. Light, shoots off of a bench or off hand very well and stupid accurate and a fun gun to shoot.
I've shot mine in most conditions and it's impressive. It has a 2 stage trigger that I have set at 20oz. The only criticism I have is that I would like the trigger a little lighter.
