Looking at buying a 9mm

Hi all

I' am looking to buy a 9mm pistol and have decided on three choices (and not all three).List is:
baby desert eagle
cz75/85
Beretta 92
What I need to know about the three is if lead bullets(cast) are allowable to be shot in them. I have tried to find this info but have limited success. I have read the berretta manual and it does say limited and certain types. I have held all three and read various reviews but still undecided. Probably will decide on the a model if it can shoot lead. Thanks for all the help.

I can't see why not. There has been some talk about pistols with polygonal barrels being unsuitable for use with unjacketed lead bullets, but all the pistols you mention have conventional rifling as far as I'm aware.

There is a cz 75 sp-01 shadow in the EE right now $650 or so with a low round count. You might want to look into it.
 
Out of your list, I will pick Beretta or CZ, I have CZ 75B and I love it, having said that I think Beretta is a better gun, better fit and finish and smoother action. Some may not like the grip of the 92FS but I feel very comfort even with my small hand. The only draw back is the trigger reach is longer than CZ while you want to use double action. All you mentioned are great guns. it really doesn't matter which one you pick.

For the range shooting we're doing up here in Canada I think your list is a good one. I've tried all three and you won't go wrong with any of them. By a NARROW margin the CZ Shadow won out. The kicker was that I got to shoot one that the owner had done some spring and trigger work on and it was SOOOOOOO sweet.

Even then I was on the border since I knew that I was comparing apples (trigger job) to oranges (stock). But when the range owners, that also bring in some gun deals for members, mentioned there was a Shadow coming in with no name attached I just whipped out the debit card right there. After shooting my stock Shadow for a while I'm now sure that I made the right decision for me as this thing just molds itself into my hand.

I tried a bunch of the plastic pistols and didn't care for them. But the Glock 17 (not sure which vintage) did amaze me with the groups it was able to shoot under my guidance. Like my CZ it seemed to just point itself to my POA. But I still didn't like the feel of the trigger or the feel of the recoil.
 
Had lots of different 9mm's over the years. To do it again, with what I know now, for me it would be a BHP MkIII or CZ 75/85 series.
 
Great choices, just a matter of picking one that egonomically fits you hand best and points naturally. Not sure about the lead bullet compatibility, but from what I understand only the polygonal barrels like on the Glocks have a problem. I would think that one would only need to clean the barrels more thoroughly and frequently, but contact the respective manufacturers for confirmation before you buy.
 
I always felt more comfortable shooting the Beretta 92F or FS handguns over the CZ75 or 85 series. Always felt more in control of the big beretta, then again, I've got big hands.
 
be a little different,..get the Baby eagle. Most people go with the CZ or Glock,..they are both good pistols,..or get an HK P30-L!!
 
HK P2000 is real sweet. I bought some magazine extenders since this photo was taken. Makes the gun much more comfortable. Incredible shooter for such a small gun. I liked it so much that I bought 2. I have a 9mm SA/DA and a .40 S & W with LEM trigger. I prefer the SA/DA but the LEM is still nice.
